Help! Drywall nails are pushing back through the wall.

Posted by Jo on June 6th, 2000 09:07 AM

Our house is about 7 years old. On the wall leading down to our basement the builder used nails instead of drywall screws to attach the drywall. The nails are now pushing back out of the drywall and look terrible. I read an article recently that said we should use drywall screws, and screw 2 inches above and below the portruding nail. Then push the nail back in and cover all of the screws and nails with mud. Does this sound like the right remedy? I can't seem to find the magazine with the exact directions.

Thanks for your help.
Jo
