Heating garage/workshop

Posted by Jim on January 31st, 2001 10:45 AM

I live in New England and am completing a 24x36 building that is divided into a 20x24 single bay garage and a 16x24 workshop. I would like to install a heating unit that will keep things from freezing and also will bring temp up to 60's for working evenings and weekends. I have a chimney with an 8" thimble. I have been thinking of installing some type of hot air furnace with ducts to both sides. But recently I have seen some radiant gas heaters that are very compact but I don't know how effecient and economical they would be. I live in a rural area where there is no city gas, so whatever fuel I select will require a tank on the premises. Anyone have any suggestions or can you point me to some reading material and/or web sites with info. Thanks in advance for any help.
