You probably could add some heating either through an electric baseboard under the toe of the cabinets in the kitchen, or infloor heating in the joists of the ceiling below. This will give you individual room control I personally have installed the infloor heating in the joists for a customer, he says its the warmest room in his house. In addition to the fact that its an efficient heat source, it is at your feet, so you feel warmer.
