Heat Pump

If the vents are the place the heat pump air comes out to heat and cool the rooms, then shutting them will kill the heat pump and you won't have to be concerned with it, If there is emergency backup heat in the blower unit, the unit will become an electric furnace heated home. In fact, this might already be the situation.
