Heat in basement

Posted by Mike on December 11th, 2002 01:23 PM

Hi there and Happy Holidays.

I own a Duplex, live in one side and rent out the other. The House was originally all Electric Heat. The previous owner dropped in a vented gas propane heater in the 1st floor of each untit. In addition, the hot water and dryers are on the gas as well.

Here is the problem. The basement gets cold as ice. I mean really cold. Their is no heat source down there at all. Since we have these propane heaters upstairs already, I am looking for an inexpensive way to heat the basement. Our washer and dryer and some excersise equipment is down there, so I would love to have it a bit warmer for the cold New England winters. Pelett Stove, Wood Stove? What do you guys think?
