Hardwood Stairs

I have just completed installing Bruce hardwood strip flooring in two upstairs rooms and now am considering the same for the stairs. I plan to use the same strip flooring on the treads, risers, and landings but use Bruce stair ends for the nose. The stair subfloor is plywood. Presently, the stairs are carpeted. The hardwood will be applied with adhesive. Is this a good idea or would it be better to remove the plywood stairs and replace with hardwood treads and risers ?
