Hardwood Floors

Posted by Scott M. on February 28th, 2001 02:48 PM

For a rennovation of our ground level, we would like to replace the tile flooring with hardwood.

We do not have a basement, the house is on a slab and this floor would be covering the cement of the slab.

While we want hardwood flooring, we've been told that it's probably not a good idea because of moisture build up and termites. We were told that the floor would last very well over time.

We were advised to use a "Pergo" like flooring because it would be sealed all around and therefore more resistant to moisture and insects.

Does this sound right? Does this mean that there is no way to have hardwood over a slab that will hold up over time?
