Hardwood floors

Posted by SJ on October 4th, 1999 12:42 PM

I am in the process of selecting hardwood flooring to have it installed. I prefer to purchase the finished wood strips for the following reasons: 1) it is warranted by the manufacturer; 2) I don't have to deal with those awful sealant fumes; 3) installation period is much shorter.

One of the installers told me that it is easier to install unfinished strips since sometimes, the finished strips tend to be uneven and therefore requires resanding and refinishing. The strips will be nailed over a plywood floor. I will most likely by MIRAGE wood strips which I understand is very good quality hardwood flooring.

Question: Does the installer have a point or is he basing it on dollars?
