My wife and I are trying to build a house in the Chicagoland Area. Our architect has called for "Drywit" Stucco for the exterior in our prairie style design. Most contractors I have met with so far refuse to build the house with the drywit telling us that probems with moisture building up behind the stucco and in the Insulation and frame of the house cause rotting problems. All our contractors have mentioned HardiPlank siding as an alternative. But the siding look does not fit well with our prairie style house.
While at the James Hardi website, I noticed they have a product called "HardiPanels" which comes in 4x8 and 4x10 sheets with the look and texture of stucco (along with other finishes).
Does anyone have any experience with this product? Would I run into the same problems of trapped moisture with this type of installation anyway? Any adive would be much appreciated!
