we live in a 1942 house with 105 siding, in Houston TX. The siding has never held paint well and is in bad need of a complete sanding and repainting or replacement with something new.
It was recently suggested that we would do better to replace the siding with Hardie Plank - one suggestion was to put it over the existing siding and then repaint. Can anyone see a problem with this? Isn't there the chance that we could create a breathing problem for the wood underneath?
Is lead poisoning a big problem when a house with lead paint is being sanded thoroughly? What precautions would we take?
