Pros are NO weather warpage, even edges, takes paint very easily. It does have a 50yr warranty (or here in Tx it does) {you are talking about the fibered cement planks, right?}NO dry rot, no insect problems. The cons are that it is hard to nail through (air nailers help, but keep a hammer handy!) its hard to cut, although you can use a GOOD quality 'skil' saw, (WEAR EAR PROTECTION) and a GOOD blade. Years ago there was a law suit involving Hardi but I REALLY dont know the particulars, and they had to 'settle' and change the product. It has been changed because it is avail. here again. (I was working for a building products dist. and we were the first in area to offer it again.)Hope this helps....
