Hair dye on wood floor

Susan........if you are lucky, your floors have a good coat of varnish or urethane on them?

If they are well sealed - try some ammonia - that should re-wet the dye without harming the urethane.

If your floors are unsealed - or in need of a refinish - you have just begun the staining process - sanding won't help.

If this is the case - sand the floors - re-stain them (this will likely have to be darker than they are now - to help hide the hair dye) - then apply three coats of urethane.
