Garbage disposals create organic food waste that is hard to pass thru drain lines and builds up thru grease attachments over time.

The best way to avoid these clogs is to use your disposal sparingly, run a lot of water (preferrably hot water) down the drain when using, adding a bit of dish detergent to the disposal when using to break up grease, and to pour some Draino or Liquid Plumber into your pipes on a regular basis.

If you are on a septic system, you should not be using a garbage disposal.
