Ground Spike

Posted by Steve S. on March 28th, 2002 09:38 AM

Hello,

I am planning on installing a picket fence in our yard. The fencing will be 4' X 8' sections. I need to go about 100'.

I was thinking of using a product called a groundspike. It is essentially that, a 24" or 30" spike that is driven into the ground. The 4" X 4" is then set in it, plumbed/leveled and secured.

The advantage is not having to dig holes for the 4" X 4"s. The disadvantage is the $14 cost for each one. The other disadvantage is I do not know if they are a good solution for a fence.

Has anyone ever used them? Any opinions good or bad wood be greatly appreciated! Here is the link if anyone is interested. http://www.ltlhomeproducts.com/outdoor_products/outdoor.htm

Thanks and have a good day. -Steve
