Got it working, changed the socket

Firstly, I own the house. Secondly, I was wary opening up the dryer since it may void my warranty with Sears. I wen with changing the socket option and connected the wires as suggested by CHOLE4ELECTRIC. It works! The ugly part is replacing the casing for the socket; old casing is too small to hold the new larger 4-pin socket. BTW, wiring to the socket helped; it had the requisite 4 wires pointed out by CHOLE4ELECTRIC. If this wasn't the case, I'd have had to resort to changing the cord.
