In reply to wallpaper over lead paint by Andrea on February 15th, 2003 11:32 AM [Go to top of thread]

to remove the wallpaper will and could cause the lead to become dislodged and available for knawing on.

Painting wallpaper is a nother beast of sorts, becasuse sometimes it works and sometimes it does not.

you do want to use only latex paint, but sometimes the moisture and liquids in the paint will cause the paper to begin to release, bubble, and come off at the seams.

In the babies room, I would re drywall the entire room with 1/4 inch rock and cover up the problem. Or you could have hasmat come in and remove all the lead and wallpaper for a small fortune.

I would take extra precautions in the baby room.
