one that dislikes synthetic things around or on my home, I would have to vote on "other than real wood shutters".

Reason is that all those louvered fittings just rot out so fast and so hard to paint and eventually they all drop down one knotch and the plastic or vinyl ones are ONE piece, baked on color (special order) or can be painted.

Do not crack with hot or cold weather and last a life time. The only thing is to be sure to follow instructions when mounting because if you do not use the spacers and such, the screw will break the shutter.
