Laminate floors, especially Pergo and floating floors, there's a tendency for them to sound 'hollow' or 'soft' when walking on them. (It can be magnified or muffeled depending on whether the sub-floor is wood or concrete ...)
Traditional hardwood floors are nailed to the sub-floor and 'sound solid' unlike what I just stated w/traditional laminates. (No one asked, but ...) 2 'big' reasons I like a 3/4" solid floor is because if it's 'feel' and value. Soooo, if they're important to you, then consider it along with everything else you (Sarah) are looking at.
