good floors

My home was built in 51, a ranch. Mostly in great shape for the floors. Some dull traffic spots. Pine is the wood with a orginal maple style look. What is the best way to clean up and re-do without going into the major job? Can I just scuff the floors with 120 grit and re-shellac or is ther another alternative then days on end work. Thanks for the help. Ted
