In reply to Vinyl Replacement Windows by Jerry Lindsey on January 18th, 2003 08:16 AM [Go to top of thread]

Greetings Jerry,

Go to and click on windows, then click on where to buy on the left side for pros. Check windows and enter your state and click submit.

You will see a list of supply houses that sell Certainteed windows, call the one near you and ask for a list of contractors in your town/city and give three a call.

Now* replacing your windows will not make the condesation go away, it will make it worse!

You have too much water in your house and you need to find the source and reduce/remove it.

Proper venting and dehumidifiers seem to do the trick.

You should do a search on "condensation" and learn more about it and the causes, you may be able to solve your problems without changing your windows.

Drafty windows were probably not installed right and that is a matter of shimming and insulation. You can check this out by removing the inside window casing of one of the windows and see what you find. Windows should be installed plumb and level and shims should be placed so that the jams meet with the sashes for a good fit.

I hope this helps and good luck,
