What's the worst that could happen?! ;-)

You can lay the floor by putting down:
-(maybe necessary) leveling compound
- a vapor barrier
- pressure treated sleepers (2x4s on their sides) - nailed to the slab, 16"o.c.
- fill-in the space between the sleepers with rigid-foam panels.
- plywood subfloor

You may also need to put some nailers around the base of the walls (between the studs) if the floor ends up being higher than the sole plate. (i.e. if your walls are currently resting on the slab, as opposed to being on a cinderblock base or concrete curb.)

.. Get a book from the library..
