glulam beams

Posted by stephen on May 15th, 2000 04:06 PM

I am taking down a load-bearing wall to open up the space between my kitchen and dining room. I'll be installing a glulam beam, which will span about 9 feet. Question is, do I need to install steel lolly columns to support each end? Also, I believe sometime earlier I saw a post with a link to a manufacturer's web site for determining the width needed for a beam. Can't seem to find it again, though...
