The manufacturers glaze tubs by spraying on the ceramic material and putting the tub in a kiln that goes up to about 2500 degrees to melt the ceramic coating and turn it into a glass-like material. This is not a do-it-yourself project for most people. What you can do is either have the tub refinished by professional refinishers that use materials that are extremely hazardous to use or you can have a fiberglass liner installed. The liner is probably the best solution and prices for these have been coming down as they become more popular.
