Getting a flat wall over a sloppily constructed cinderblock party wall

Posted by Steven on October 3rd, 2002 01:57 PM

I am about to undertake a kitchen renovation in a townhouse that has a cinderblock party wall. The construction is sloppy, and getting furring strips attached in a flat plane will be tricky. Someone suggested that I use resilient channel on the theory that it will absorb some of the variation in the cinderblock wall when I top it with a sheet of 1/2 inch plywood (which will serve as the backing for the cabinets and the tiled backsplash). Any comments
