Garage Opener Clearance

Posted by Arren on December 21st, 1997 09:42 AM

I own an older house that is about 26-30 yrs. old.
I would like to install a garage opener in the garage, but there are a few problems.
It has a low ceiling of 92.5 inches, there is a support beam that comes down from the ceiling 11.5 inches, and the top of the garage door tracks rise from the floor 82.5"
Let me try and draw you a picture.

Is it feasible to drop the top of the garage door tracks down a few inches to gain the necessary clearance?
And if it is feasible, will a professional garage installer do this for me?
