Garage door opener clearance problem

Posted by Larry Peterson on January 24th, 2003 02:28 PM

I've got a 9 foot door and I tried to put in a chamberlin chain drive opener with the 10 foot rail extension to handle the taller door. When I raised the door I noticed that I only have an inch and a quarter clearance at the highest point the door goes up and the 1st truss. My only option is to groove an inch of the truss to make it fit, but I don't really like this idea. Somebody was telling me that they saw it on tv where somebody mounted the opener on the side wall and connected it to the torsion bar. Do you know anything about this and if so where do I get the adapter to hook it up. If you have any ideas please email me
