Galvanized pipe

lawnboy, I have seen it done in industrial applications. As far as I know the only reason not to use it is cost. There is no benefit to galvanized over black and, honestly, I don't know what the code says. Perhaps it is possible for the galvanize to plug up a pit or something and pop out later but would it survive the hydrotest? By the way, galvanized is illegal to use in a few areas unless it has been tested for lead. Only one of the four domestic manufacturers has decided to absorb the high cost of the testing and if the pipe is ordered to the lead tested spec, the cost is much higher. Chicago is one of the areas that require this.
