Hi, Amelia. There really should not be discoloration after stripping, unless the discoloration was already in the wood. But you have it so lets go from there. It's pretty hard to say exactly what you should try so try these things in this order. Start with another application at home of a citris stripper and see if any more finish comes off. If it doesn't, try light sanding--150 to 220 grit. If that doesn't get it, try household bleach. You might also check on the Citri-Strip web site for their comments. As far as the rattan, no matter what you do, you will probably end up replacing it as it gets brittle with age. Be sure to follow package directions and use safety gear when working with any chemicals including the bleach.
