In regards to the whistleing furnace, I have fixed the problem by removing the draft inducer motor and housing and looking at the covers of the heat exchangers. The gaskets on the covers were dried out and allowing some air to whistle out behind them. This is a simple fix and my furnace is quieter than ever. With these small covers off, you can also visually inspect the condition of your heat exchangers!
