Having a learning experience with the new fangled furnaces also. Whoever said? there was an enormous amount of discharge water, is a little wet. Depends on outside air and insulation on the intake air pipe. By Ptrap, I assume it is really the condensate trap. Upon further reading, I suppose 32 deg is about max that this little plastic box will take. Instructions say use condensate freeze protection accessory equivalent to 3 to 6 watt per foot heat tape. Then it gives instructions on how to apply same.
Strange, you talk to about 6 certified technicians and yep you got it 6 different answeres. Makes you wonder sometimes. Hmmm.
Heating trap, when it is on the side of the furnace??? Boy, someone really needs to enlighten me for sure....
