Ron, provided it's not trusses. Could still be done then, too, but probably shouldn't be under normal methods. (meaning it's unlikely that the person doing the work would go to the trouble of getting a draft of the truss to an engineer who could tell them what added bracing was needed to be put in besides the doubling) And please, don't get me wrong here and bite my head off, but actually....only one wall of the hallway would be truly be a load bearing wall under most normal construction. No offense meant, just always trying to be as clear and correct as possible here so as not to give someone down the line that might read but not post the wrong idea.
