Foundation problems

Posted by Siggy on September 6th, 2001 11:47 AM

We bought a home that was built in 1969 and seems to have been built on black mud. The home has a cement foundation with a crawl space. The previous owners had two additions built onto the home. One on the master bedroom and the other to the kitchen. This year we noticed two ceiling cracks where the additions were built. Looking closer as well as crawling under the house I am finding wet soil under the house during the winter and during the summer the soil in the yard has up to 3" cracks. There is a rather large window on the kitchen add on that now doesn't shut. (Out of square) How do I resolve the issue of constant foundation settlement? We have alot invested into the home and would prefer not selling.
