Dear Moderator, Steve,
Thank you very much for your quick reply! To reply to your questions:
1. SOILS We have about 6 to 8 "'s of soil and then clay. Very hard red clay!
2. FOOTING We have a cement footing under the blocks.
3. DRAINAGE Our property slopes to the North at a nice pitch. Enough to have a "stand up" boat storage area under the West side porch. I suspect, now that you mention it, I need more
rain gutters to drain the water away from the home. The only gutter on the home is on the East Porch above the steps.
4. No, we haven't flower beds near the foundations of the home. We have had mostly dought, forrest fire, and within the last month about an inch or so of rain. The cracks were there before the rain, but seem to have gotten worse by about 1/4 inch at the top.

Again, Your quick reply and "god bless you also" message means very much to us. I may add that our little home, even though the recent forrest fire burned within 60 feet of both the North & South sides, is still standing! Praise Him!

Any e-mail addresses, step by step instruction,
and advise are very much appreciated! Thank you for your time!

Respectfully yours,
Don Wurtsmith
