After spending much time comparing the laminate products on the market, we chose Formica mainly because of the warranty and the wide array of designs and colors. We had a substantial area of floor covered this past summer with the Formica laminate product. We were pleased with the installation, which appeared virtually seamless. Then two weeks later, our washing machine sprung a leak. Our floor was ruined. While the water was cleaned up within minutes, the damage had occurred when the water seeped through by the baseboard. Formica's warranty is such that once their glue has set up, it is impossible for moisture to seep through and damage the floor. We had the floor replaced, through the washing machine manufacturer's insurance & this time every seam is noticable and they are peaking as if there is still moisture trapped underneath. Our contractor has been out several times and most recently a rep from Formica came to assess the situation. That was 4 weeks ago and we were promised a response from Formica within a week. We have yet to hear from them. I still believe Formica has a good product - with the best warranty available in laminate flooring, but be cautious of the contractor & beware that unless the Formica glue is used, the warranty will not be honored. Every manufacturer has service or warranty issues, but what sets them apart from others is how they respond to problems. The jury is still out here in Ourtown, Indiana. FORMICA, WHERE ARE YOU??????
