My 1960s vintage home came with a white formica countertop. While white is better than some other options I have seen, this countertop is somewhat dingy and stained, possibly from its age. I want desperately to recover it somehow as I cannot afford a new countertop anytime soon. I have read all the articles about painting these surfaces and I am not sure I like that option. I am toying with the idea of putting ceramic over the formica. Any thoughts? Oh, to make matters worse, every edge and seam on the counter is covered with stainless steel or something--about 1/3 inch strips. DOUBLE YUCK. Help????
