Formica Backsplash Repair

I have a new kitchen countertop that is Formica laminate over a particle type wood. The backsplash is separate from the counter. Where the two meet it is sealed with a fine silocone like seam. Unfortunately, the seal was not perfect and some water was absorbed by the wood in the backsplash, causing it to swell. Short of removing the backsplash, is there any way to repair it ? If pressure can be applied to compress it again, is there any glue that I can use, either by letting it soak in the seam or by drilling up from the bottom and injecting it ?
