Looking in from the outside of your home:

If your entry door has its hinges on the left side, then I think that you would want your storm door to be hinged on that side also. Why, because when you open the storm door, the entry door handles would be open for easy access.

So, what you need to do is to hang the hinge side of the storm door THEN determine the positions of the storm door hardware, BUT FIRST before you drill you want to make sure that you do not drill for the storm door handle exactly where the entry door handle is because they will colide and the storm door will not fully shut. So, offset the storm door handle either above or below the entry door hardware.

Before you drill for the handle and all, the door should be fully installed and set up, the drilling is the last thing to do.
