A footing that's 10-12" deep and 20" wide should be adequate. If you can, adding just a little rebar would help to keep the footing together as one entity. One #4 bar on each side 3" up from bottom grade and 3" in from the edge, continuously from end to end would help. Where the bars overlap, because you can't get a 50 footer, tie them together with wire.
