Hi, D,
If you lay tiles over the old the vinyl covering
the tiles could come unstuck, crack, and even break
because there is alway a little movement between
the tile and the concrete.
Try and get as much vinyl away as possible, this way
new tiles will have a better chance of staying down
if its too hard to get all the vinal away then hire
a small electric hammer with a spade tip, it will get
the old vinal up but will damage the surface of the
concrete, (no matter), you are going to cover it anyway
If you are going to lay the new tiles then draw a line
down the centre (center)both ways ( you will then
have drawn a large cross on the floor.
Start in the center, or where the lines cross each other
this way you will have a nice edge all around the outside.
"REMEMBER" lay your tiles so that you finish by the doorway.
dont work yourself into a corner, "I've seen it done, the guy
had to get out of the window, and the room was two
floors up.
Have fun,
John 2000
