In reply to Laying linoleum tile over exsisting linoleum floor. by Darol on November 9th, 2001 10:22 PM [Go to top of thread]

I have sheet linoleum flooring in my kitchen, it has tears and a major seam coming up and it is old and horrible looking.

The kitchen area has an attached laundry room and "bar" area that will also need to be replaced. I'm looking at approx. 500 sq. foot.

I am trying to replace this the cheapest way possible, but I've been told if I use cheap vinyl flooring it can tear easily. My home stays full of teens so I need something cheap and durable.

I am pricing vinyl but the tear out of old floor is so expensive I'm not sure if it would be better to try to lay ceramic over the old floor. I'm not able to do the tear out or putting down of new, so I will have to hire someone; It's just hard to know who to trust on the correct info...

Any suggestions???
