In reply to Carpet foam & glue removal (Concrete) by Bill Friend on September 4th, 1999 06:07 PM [Go to top of thread]

Two suggestions, Bill. The first is to always start a new question as a separate topic. Sometimes new questions get lost when you post under a topic even a couple of days old.

Second is that there is some kind of carpet or tile glue remover listed at under one of their many brand listings. I don't know the name or the active ingredients so I can not recommend it. This is just to let you know that it is there. A further thought is that if the active ingredient is methyl chloride, I would find something else. And I would not use acetone for any area cleaning in a basement. Any ignition source, like a furnace or water heater pilot light can ignite the vapors with explosive results. Paint thinner is bad enough and it should only be used with excellent ventilation.

Good luck and be safe.
