flooring for beach house

Posted by Kathleen Murray on February 20th, 2002 08:18 PM

We just bought a house right on the beach that is going to attract sand and it is going to be rented out 2 to 3 months of the year. The carpet has to go and we are trying to decided what to put down. The house is going to be decorated in the "shabby chic" style with lots of white on white. We love the look of real hard wood (distressed is fine), but it seems to be a lot pricier than the laminate and harder to install. Any ideas on which way to go? This may seem crazy, but we are also trying to find out more info regarding concrete floors. If painted correctly they can look really great. Any advice on concrete? We are just exploring all our options and love the idea of doing something inexpensive and creative.
