I have the old (1959) parquet flooring in some areas of my house. I am planning to refinish it after I have completed some other interior remodeling. Thanks to jb for the refinishing procedure. A lot of floor professionals have advised me against refinshing parquet. All I can figure is that they wanted to sell me a new floor instead.

Anyway, for years, I have been using a product called 'Floor Glaze' that I found at Publix grocery store for about $3 a 24 oz bottle. One bottle does the whole floor about 600 sq ft. After vacuuming, you just wet mop it on the floor and let it dry. It brightens the wood and gives it a soft glow and provides a bit of protection against dirt. It lasts about 3-4 months, so I usually do it 2 to 4 times a year. A cheap and easy temporary alternative to refinishing.
