Floor finish

Hi, Lori. The first thing that I would do is go to your favorite search engine and check "engineered wood floor". One of the many manufacturers of this type of floor may have a look that will match your desires.

The second option would be to install or have a pro install an oak floor and sand it. Put on one of Minwax's Pastel Stains and wipe most of it back off and then apply 3 coats of water based poly. The whole process will take 3-4 days for a pro to do and much longer for a do-it-yourselfer. This is a very brief description of a long and messy project.
