Floor Beams

Posted by aguieb on March 28th, 2003 02:55 PM

Hello. I would like to reinforce the existing floorbeams that I have in my house. Quite a few are already in bad shape and I was advised to just "sister" the beams instead of taking the old beams out. Saves a lot of work. How is insertion of new beams normally done without damaging the structure of the house. I am afraid of raising the flooring from the basement too much by simply using floor risers or jacks. Please advise.
