floating wood floor

Posted by amanda on June 22nd, 2002 09:56 PM

My boyfriend and I are 'do-it-yourselfers' and are considering installing wood flooring. We like the idea of a floating floor due to the ease of installation, but we still have questions. We were told by a Mannington rep. that any of their wood flooring that is 3" or wider can be floated. In our research, we've found that most brands...Bruce, Hartco, Anderson, etc. specifically identify their 'floating' floor series and do not mention that their other series (which are labeled as glue down, nail, or staple) that are 3" or wider can be floated. Is it possible to float any wood flooring that is over 3" wide? If not, why?
