Flickering Light Switch

Posted by Andrew in NY on June 20th, 2001 08:51 AM

Good morning all! In my 1958 ranch, I have two illuminated light switches installed in a double-box. The boxes in the house have a separate ground-wire attached to them, with a two-wire cable running to the switches, outlets, and fixtures. Both switches are on the same circuit. Obviously, the switches are illuminated in the off position. One of the switches flickers while illuminated. Both lights operate normally, and the second switch's illumination is constant. Is there anything I should be concerned about, or do I just have a slightly defective switch? I plan to pull off the cover and inspect the wiring, but since everything works, I can't imagine that I have an issue.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
