Flexible chimney liners?

Posted by Bob L. on July 9th, 1998 11:06 AM

Anyone ever had installed, or self-installed one of those flexible, stainless steel chimney liners? I need to 'line' an olllldddd brick chimney, for venting a nat'l gas furnace and hot water heater. I assume BTU's matter, but wonder if one liner can accomodate both appliances, or a separate one is need for each? Talking a near suburb of Chicago, if weather affects. Sticking the thing down a relatively straight chimney from the roof sounds do-able, I have no idea how you connect to the flue pipe in the basement for the appliances... nipple or other connectors? Ideas or assistance would be much appreciated. THANKS!
