Stephanie, cleaning the flame sensor is a quick, easy task; the service call will cost more than anything. Cleaning the sensor often runs about $25.00 in addition. If I were having a service call done, I'd set it up as an overall once-a-year type maintenance deal, which will include cleaning the sensor. All it normally amounts to is running a little emery cloth around a small rod-shaped sensor which sits near the front of one of the heat exchanger inlets.
