since you are removing a load bearing wall, the front exterior wall, you are increasing the span of that ceiling to the outside porch supports.

The question is, can that additional unsupported span be safe and be supported to the exterior porch supports?

If you get a professional person that says it can then your job is not too difficult. Even if the load bearing wall your removing, can be sucessfully removed by using beams and posts.

As Jay always states: make sure your right so that your second floor does not fall into your first and insurance states its not their fault.
